In early November, three members of the ACTRI Center for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics (CCBB) team attended the American Society for Human Genetics (ASHG) conference in Denver, Colorado. This premier event provided a platform for researchers to present and discuss the latest advancements in genetics and genomics.

Dr. Tom Whisenant, Dr. Roman Sasik, and Daisy Chilin-Fuentes represented CCBB, each presenting a poster on their groundbreaking research:
  • Dr. Whisenant shared his work on developing a single-cell RNA editing pipeline, highlighting its potential for precision in genetic research.
  • Dr. Sasik presented an analysis of the UCSD ARMOR database, which focuses on cancer patients, offering new insights into cancer genomics.
  • Daisy Chilin-Fuentes compared the efficacy of various methods for annotating cell types in single-cell RNA sequencing data, contributing to the refinement of techniques in the field.

The team's research sparked productive discussions and received positive feedback from attendees, paving the way for potential collaborations and publications.

ASHG 2024 provided an invaluable opportunity for CCBB researchers to engage with the global genetics community, showcasing their contributions to the forefront of human genetics and genomics.
