Population Research Scientific Methods (PRSM)
The mission of PRSM is to facilitate and expand the study of population health. We provide training, education, and consulting services that reduce barriers to research for ACTRI affiliates. Examples of consultation topics include study design, data sources, statistical analysis, abstract preparation, grant writing/editing.
About PRSM
PRSM emphasizes that population health and health equity are shaped by behavioral, psychosocial, political, and economic factors experienced throughout the life course and across generations. The motivating mission of PRSM is to facilitate and expand the study of population health.
We provide training, education, and consulting services that facilitates and reduces barriers to research for ACTRI affiliates. Specific attention is given to junior faculty and those who lack formal training in research. Finally, given the expertise of PRSM members, we continue to encourage research for those at vulnerable life stages including infants and pediatric populations, pregnant women and birthing people, and older adults; and displaced populations, including refugee and migrant populations, people who are incarcerated or detained, and those experiencing homelessness/housing insecurity.
Tools and Resources
ReCODE Health at UC San Diego is led by Dr. Nebeker. We have partnered with the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) in developing a course for researchers to design and carry out research involving Latino and other underrepresented populations. Designing Research for Diversity (DRD) applies the principles of respect for persons, beneficence and justice across the lifespan of a research project. Visit ReCODE Health here.
