Spring 2017

I am pleased to announce our participation in two new NIH initiatives that create nationwide networks to support critical facets of clinical trials: The Trial Innovation Network (TIN) and the Accrual to Clinical Trials program (ACT). UC San Diego Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) serves as the local link to these exciting new efforts. The goal of the TIN is to provide consultation and services for the design and initiation of new multi-center clinical trials, while ACT provides new tools for assessing study feasibility. more

Winter 2016-2017

Summer 2016

I’m very pleased to announce the opening of our expanded Center for Clinical Research (CCR) at our new home, the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (CTRI). This fully staffed clinic includes 18,000 square feet of the first floor and supports a wide range of translational research studies. The CCR opened following a brief gap in operations during the move. The clinic staff did an outstanding job preparing the clinic space for clinical trials and participants. Since opening its doors in June, 276 participants have used the space. more

Spring 2016

I am delighted to announce we will begin moving into our new home, the Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) building, this spring. We are preparing for this phased move as the finishing touches are being added to the ACTRI. On March 4, under sunny skies, we dedicated the building during a ribbon cutting celebration. more

Winter 2016

I am pleased to announce expanded programs in our Education unit at the UC San Diego CTRI. Our new NIH grant, awarded in August, enables us to develop additional education and training opportunities for a growing workforce. I’m especially pleased about the growth of our successful KL2 program, the addition of the TL1 postdoctoral program, and our launch of new courses and seminars. more
