The Biomarker Laboratory provides analyte determinations on a variety of human and animal materials principally through immuno-assays and quantitative PCR. This lab provides assay services at affordable cost to clinical and basic CTRI and our Partner Institution investigators. Techniques offered include:

  • Perform all validated assays with internal and commercial QC in a timely manner for basic and clinical investigators.
  • Introduce and validate (GLP) new assays, as a pilot study, with commercial QC and internal quality assurance program (IQAP) support.
  • Help physicians with disease and patient-oriented biomarker assay development and validation.
  • Work in tandem with Bioinformatics core for secure data storage and retrieval.
  • Teach and train undergraduate, graduate students and junior investigators in laboratory techniques.
  • Help PIs with protocol development and assistance in sample collection procedures and sample storage.

The Biomarkers Laboratory features a constantly growing number of over 125 validated assays, and affiliations. These collaborations with CTRI Research Centers will further expand the number of techniques and assays offered. If an assay is not available within the Biomarker Laboratory, we will develop it in-house or assist in identifying a laboratory that performs the assay at a reasonable cost.
