    There are three types of membership in UC San Diego Altman Clinical and Translational Research Institute (ACTRI) - General Membership, Associate Membership and Affiliate Membership. Requirements and benefits for all three are listed below.

      Apply for ACTRI Membership

      General Membership

      Requirements (Any One of the Following)

      • Serve as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator at UC San Diego or ACTRI Partner institutions on funded research involving translational and/or clinical research. Please locate the ACTRI Partner Institutions list at the bottom of the page.
      • Consistent track record in clinical and/or translational research at UC San Diego or ACTRI Partner Institutions
      • Enrolled in a KL2, K12, K08, or K23 program at UC San Diego or ACTRI Partner Institutions

      Benefits

      Access to ACTRI resources for advancing disease- or patient-oriented research, including:

      • Assistance with project design (in both pre- and post-funding stages), including selection of potential imaging and biomarker assessments, and biostatistics and bioinformatics support
      • Clinical research staffing support
      • Assistance with subject recruitment strategies, and Human Research Protection regulatory support
      • Introduction to potential community agency partners
      • Eligiblility for co-funding by the ACTRI for services provided. Co-funding applies to peer reviewed and investigator initiated projects
      • Eligiblility for ACTRI pilot project funds
      • Eligiblility for CTSA-specific RFAs from the NIH
      • Access to ACTRI retreats, symposia, seminars, and sponsored conferences
      • Discounted tuition or fees for eligible ACTRI educational programs
      • Mentoring and career development support
      • ACTRI input for academic appointment and promotion files
      • Assistance with fund raising activities to support disease-related programs
      • Eligibility for support from the ACTRI in public announcement of research and clinical achievements

      Associate Membership

      Requirements (Any One of the Following)

      • Community physicians and community healthcare workers, and individuals from industry, nonprofits, and Community Based Organizations who are interested in or participate in translational and/or clinical research
      • Collaborate in research conducted by ACTRI General Members, defined as providing essential and sustained intellectual or practical help, recruiting patients and volunteers to clinical trials led by ACTRI members, or systematically assisting in the procurement of clinical specimens for translational and/or clinical research
      • Organize or play a substantive role in an essential ACTRI academic activity, such as an educational program or a core service
      • Research fellows or trainees who have an interest in or participate in clinical and/or translational research
      • Participants in the ACTRI TL1 or CREST programs
      • Participate in ACTRI activities, such as ad hoc committees to review Pilot Grants

    Affiliate Membership

    Affiliate Membership provides access to ACTRI mailings regarding ACTRI activities, including educational opportunities. Individuals from UCSD or any ACTRI partner institution are eligible for Affiliate membership.
