  • Secure storage of data, documents, and files

Requesting Access

To request access to REDCap, please navigate to https://actri.ucsd.edu/Pages/ctri-request-form.aspx, select “Biomedical Informatics”, and in the section named “Biomedical Information Services”, select “REDCap Access.” You’ll then be able to download the access request form, complete it, and upload it to the webpage. This will generate a task in our work ticketing system. Upon completion of work, the requested user will receive an email notification stating that they have been granted access to REDCap, and an email notification that they have been granted access to the UCSD REDCap Wiki, with login credentials for the Wiki.

Requirements for Access

Access to REDCap is currently controlled through the Single Sign-On system. All REDCap users must have a Business Systems Single Sign-On. These can be granted by any Department Security Administrator. Your DSA’s contact information can be looked up at: https://iam.ucsd.edu/dsasearch/deptList.

If you are accessing REDCap from outside the university firewall, you will also need an Active Directory account to access the VPN. To request an AD account, please send an email to ctri-support@ucsd.edu with a subject of “AD Account Request – User Name”, and the following information: Your name; your institutional email address; your phone number; your sponsoring UCSD PI’s name, email, and phone number; the length of time for which you are requesting access.

Training

Once granted access to the REDCap application, all users have access to extensive training videos, located on the REDCap home page. Additionally, we offer two hours of free hands-on training tailored to your project’s needs. This training must be scheduled by contacting ctri-redcap@ucsd.edu. All training will be conducted in the ACTRI building.

The REDCap team is reachable via ctri-redcap@ucsd.edu, or during normal business hours at the application support main line at (858) 534-0555.

The REDCap Wiki is a tool available to all REDCap users to post questions to the UCSD REDCap community.

Note

While REDCap may be used to store PHI, it is not CFR 21 Part 11 compliant. If your project requires compliance with CFR 21 Part 11, you will need to use the Velos system.
